Application Requirements

Please review the following admission requirements:

Our online application is streamlined for your convenience and can be completed in approximately five minutes. You do not have to wait until you have all your documents and materials to submit your application. Once you have submitted your application, you will receive an email containing your HBU Admission ID and instructions on how to check your application status.

  • You must be a Texas resident and have an unencumbered Texas RN License
  • Provisional admission available for new ADN grads conditional upon completing NCLEX within first 8-week term

  • Completion of an accredited ADN program (Associates Degree in Nursing) 
    • Full admission with a 3.0 GPA
    • Provisional admission with a 2.5-2.9 GPA  *Passing grades in first 6 credit hours is required
  • New ADN graduates are eligible for admission on the condition of passing the NCLEX exam within the first 8-week term with HBU

You may be eligible for grants or financial aid through the Federal Financial Aid program.  To find out your eligibility and what you may qualify for, complete and submit a current FAFSA application at (Houston Baptist University school code: 003576).

It is important to complete the FAFSA process, in conjunction with your application, so that the Financial Aid office can review your file as soon as you receive your admissions decision.

Q: Is there an application fee?
A: Yes, there is a one-time application fee of $45.

Q: What is the tuition?
A: The tuition is $425 per credit.

Q: Are there any additional fees?
A: Yes, there is a general fee of $50 per term*

*HBU has 6 terms. All terms are 8 weeks in length.

Q: Do I have to pay a deposit to secure my place in the program?
A: No, there is no deposit required.

Q: Are payment plans available?
A: Yes, payment plans accommodating students’ employer reimbursement plans are available.

Q: Do I need a Texas RN license?
A: Yes, a valid Texas RN license is required.

Q: Can I receive credit for prior learning?
A: Yes, you can receive credit for having completed prior ADN coursework and HBU can support you in taking and getting credit for many CLEP exams.

Q: How long do courses last?
A: Eight-week courses are offered in the fall and spring and five-week courses are offered in the summer.

Q: How many start dates are offered?
A: There are six start dates offered per year.

Q: How long does it take to complete the program?
A: You have the ability to move through the program at your own pace, but the entire program can be completed in as little as 9 months.
